In the video Ralph Fletcher stated "In order to have an affect on someone else, you must first allow him to effect you." When I first heard this quote I did not agree with it. However, after a lot of thinking I can agree with Fletcher.
A teacher has the job of engaging students to learn. In order to engage students she must first research the students interests as well as getting to know the students. I think that in order for a teacher to begin to help a child learn the writing process and enjoy it, he or she must allow them to express themselves. I feel that it helps to affect someone else if they have first effected you. However, I do not feel that it is the only way to affect someone.
In a teaching community it is important to left others have an impact on you. Especially as a new teacher. I feel that my teaching strategies will be affected by others. I believe that this quote leaves us with a lot to think about.

What makes writing worth reading?
This is a question to think about...
What makes writing worth reading...
I personally feel that what makes writing worth reading is different for every person! However, sometimes we are required to read things that we may not feel are worth reading. I think what makes writing worth reading is the topic, and if it is of interest to the person. I also think it is important to be able to understand what you are reading or be able to figure it out. I do not think that there is one answer to this question I feel that what makes writing worth reading is the opinion of each person.
I enjoy reading materials that I can relate to or on subjects that matter to me. I think that something is worth reading if it gives the reader new information that they may not have known before. As a future educator I believe that we can always learn therefore reading allows us to explore.
Whats worth reading is a personal preference.

Learning to read, SO long ago.
I feel a little old when I think back to how I learned to read. It feels like it was so long ago. It is hard for me remember exactly how I learned to read. However, I remember learning site words and working with my teacher and my mother with those words. I remember reading at night with my mom. I also remember, the program Accelerated Reader. I think the computer program "Reader Rabbit" was a big hit when I was learning to read. When I was in first grade I remember having weekly spelling list which consisted of about 5 words. I think learning this new vocabulary every week helped me learn to read. Reading Rainbow was a big hit in elem. school. Although, I do not remember exactly how I learned to read I do have many different memories about language which I have mentioned. I hope to have a big impact on future readers on America:)!
