Learning to read, SO long ago.

I feel a little old when I think back to how I learned to read. It feels like it was so long ago. It is hard for me remember exactly how I learned to read. However, I remember learning site words and working with my teacher and my mother with those words. I remember reading at night with my mom. I also remember, the program Accelerated Reader. I think the computer program "Reader Rabbit" was a big hit when I was learning to read. When I was in first grade I remember having weekly spelling list which consisted of about 5 words. I think learning this new vocabulary every week helped me learn to read. Reading Rainbow was a big hit in elem. school. Although, I do not remember exactly how I learned to read I do have many different memories about language which I have mentioned. I hope to have a big impact on future readers on America:)!

  1. It is clear that although you don't remember the HOW of learning to read, you had many positive experiences and persons whom influenced your acquisition of knowledge. This will continue to serve you well as a future teacher.
